We do NOT do medical transcription.The following positions are being contracted for at this time.

Entry Level Transcriber – Audio (Must have and use a headset)

Experienced Corporate (Must be proficient in Google docs/MS Word)

Experienced Legal (Proficient in Google docs/MS Word)

All ICs applying for a transcription position must: Have and use a good quality headset (please see VOT requirements page for transcribers) Have and be proficient with web document transfers , google docs or MS Word. Have high speed Internet access. Have a land line telephone. 

We have two types of legal contracts. One client uses web based file storage and the other requires the use of google docs and MS Word. All legal transcribers must be willing to pass a complete background check and be fingerprinted. All experienced positions require that you have or be willing to acquire a pedal.  Entry level may start out without a pedal, but  will be expected to obtain one within 30 days if the position works out. Using a pedal enables you to work up to four times as fast as a typist without a pedal.  This allows you to accept and complete more work and likewise earn more money. Corporate work includes government and municipal hearings, earnings conference calls and general transcription.

These are all audio files. However, we do have a department that does video transcription. We take whatever work that comes in. We try to work Monday through Friday during normal business hours and do our best to avoid evenings and weekends. We get both good audio and poor, clearly spoken and accented and work with what we get to the best of our ability. As an IC, you will work when you want to and may work for multiple companies if you choose, although we find that ICs who do not work regularly do not maintain a skill set that meets the needs of our clients. If your application is accepted, you would need to pass a preliminary test, which we do not pay you to take. It is about five minutes long.  If you pass that, you will be sent an IC agreement and a W-9 tax form to fill out. Upon our receipt of the paperwork, you will get access to our testing site, where you will be given another transcription test, an English test, and show your ability to upload and down load files to through an FTP to a server. If all goes well, you will be given access to our corporate server.  At that time, you will be put on the list to work on a probationary basis at minimum pay until we can evaluate the quality of your work.  If all is well, you will progress from there. We do not allow subcontracting of our work.  If you accept work, you must do it yourself.  Any IC found to be subbing our work out will have their IC agreement terminated. You may not use any type of word expander or voice recognition software.  Any IC found to be using an expander or voice recognition software will have their IC agreement terminated. 

How This Position Will be Paid: Please understand, pay is determined by audio minute, 1/000 bytes or number of pages depending on the client.  It has NOTHING to do with how long it takes you to complete an assignment.  As an example:  A 30 minute audio at .40/audio minute will pay you $12.00 regardless of whether you completed it in one hour or it took you two to do it.Independent Contractors are in business for themselves.  We do NOT withhold taxes, nor are you eligible for Workmens Comp or Unemployment.  At the end of the calendar year, all those ICs who have made $600.00 or more will receive a 1099 Tax form.  You are responsible for ALL taxes on this income. For corporate and financial, we pay between .40 and .75/audio min or /1,000 bytes depending on the client, the quality of our work and your turnaround time.Legal pays .50/double spaced, 25 line page to .65/double spaced, 25 line page.
